This page offers access to photo galleries of various kinds. Some galleries are particularly oriented toward the more personal side of the professional projects outlined elsewhere on the website: for example, with casual shots of people who have contributed to those projects. In large part, the goal of those galleries is to share photos with friends and colleagues; but others are, of course, welcome to browse as well. There are also several art photography galleries and event galleries intended for enjoyment by the general public. If you want to reproduce photos for public purposes, please ask permission and cite appropriately. With a few exceptions, the photos in the professional galleries were taken by Michael Dietler or Ingrid Herbich. Those in the art and event galleries are exclusively by me and are clearly marked (© M. Dietler).
For the art photos, I work primarily with Nikon DSLR cameras (D810 and D5000), and sometimes also a Coolpix S3100. Some older work was done with film SLR cameras (Pentax and Nikon) and converted to digital format. Aside from cropping, I rarely use digital alterations, preferring to emphasize natural color and light. I work with a variety of lenses, but my favorites tend to be a Nikkor AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G, and a Sigma 24-105mm f/4. Video I do with the D810.
You can access the galleries (which are all works in progress with more to be added) by clicking on the photo icons. The Family and Friends gallery requires a password, but the others are open access. Enjoy.
